Viaduct Tavern The Tavern along with the Old Bailey was built on the site of Newgate Prison, well known for its appalling conditions and public hangings, which continued until 1868.

After an initial meeting of minds, we had decided that some of the team researched the history and the other enter the site blind and we could compare our findings with the facts at a later date. All of us were very excited to see what experiences we would have.

Those of us who entered the venue knowing very little about the history began by setting up the equipment while those who did the research interviewed the bar manageress to get a better idea of what we might expect and to also learn more about the place and her experiences.
